Here are some pictures from our weekend in Plains, Georgia,
where we attended the Peanut Festival and 5K road race.

Here are pictures of the Plains "historic business district" which has not changed since I first saw it 26 years ago.

Here are pictures of Billy Carter's gas station (owned 1972 - 1981):

Here are some pictures of Jimmy giving out the awards for the 5K:

Above - notice the Secret Service Agent up on the platform, in the white cap and green vest. Below - if you squint, you can see two dots at the end of the road, which are the people ahead of us in the 5K.  That's how far in last place we were (but we were walking)

Here are some miscellaneous pictures:

Train Depot which served as Jimmy's campaign headquarters in 1976

Sure wish I had paid $1 to see the strange thing

Plains, as you drive into town.  The "historic district" is around the bend.

Here are some pictures from Jimmy's boyhood home:

Earl and Lillian Carter home, where Jimmy grew up.

If you enlarge this picture, you should be able to read history of the Carter home.

Jimmy's bedroom

Earl Carter's store; windmill eventually used to pump water to the house.

Bathroom - later on, after they got indoor plumbing. Notice the pail at the top of the shower stall
